Juanita Sauve Art Quilts: With fabric and paints I capture landscapes, people and ideas, designing colourful, one-of-a-kind hand-stitched wall hangings. Inspiration is everywhere around us. My work tells a story - about me, about my world, and my ideas and values.
I spent several years working with coloured porcelain and several more as a social worker. It was when I was working in the social work field that I began quilting. For the last 16 years I have been creating art quilts, all stitched by hand. I find inspiration in the natural world, flora and fauna, rocks, trees, water.....have I left anything out ;-) There is usually a story behind the inspiration for my pieces.
Now that I am fully retired, I spend my days creating fibre art, learning about fibre, exhibiting, and selling my work. I learn from other artists, workshops, quilting magazines and books, fibre arts groups, challenges with friends, and from my wonderful online quilting groups.
